R. Presson, but Matilda died prior to 1868; ELIZABETH Presson, born about 1835 (listed in household in the 1860 census, but apparently she died prior to 1868;) DRUCILLA Presson, born abt 1837, who married William H. Smith, but Drucilla died prior to 1868; PATIENCE CATHERINE Presson, born 1839, who married John B. Presson; MARTHA ANN born abt 1845; & WILLIAM RILEY Presson, born about 1848. The above names are given in the probate record of Samuel Presson, Sr., who died in Union CO, NC in 1868. This record also lists the children who survived two of the deceased daughters. Mary Elizabeth Smith, Ruth Maria Smith and George Smith were the only legal heirs of their mother Drucilla Presson Smith. John Matthew Presson was the only legal heir of his mother, Edie Matilda Presson. The child shown in the household of John Tomer Presson in the 1860 census, Edie, age 1, is thought to be a daughter of Edie Matilda, but this child seems to have also passed away prior to 1868. _______________________________________________________________________ From the History of Carroll CO, TN, Vol 1, Published in 1987: (info submitted by descendants for publication) is the following: John Presson and his wife Patsy were born in NC. They moved to TN in their young days. To this union were b. ten children-- six girls and four boys. One son, Samuel Toomer m. Ellen Bruce. Ten children were born to this union: Mary, Rowena Ellen, Dinkie Alice, John Robert "Bob," Albert Wesley, Richard Leroy "Dick," And Casual Hampton "Cas."
