He attended Allerton High school and graduated in 1948. He served his country in the United States Navy. On Oct. 14, 1962, he was united in marriage to Patricia Hennessey. To this union two children were born: John Paul Niday and Lori Ann Niday. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Allerton, Allerton American Legion Post No. 379, past worshipful master of Advance Lodge No. 372 A.F. & A.M. of Allerton, also a member of the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine temple of Des Moines. He spent his entire life farming in Wayne county. On April 7, 1973, he was united in marriage to Leona Parker. They made their home on his farm southwest of Allerton. He was preceded in death by his father, Veron; mother, Zora, and stepmother, Janet. Surviving are his wife, Leona; son, Paul; daughter, Lori; and step-children He was a loving husband and father and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Services were Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1976, from the Randolph Funeral home in Allerton with the Rev. Merle Prater officiating. Music was furnished by Rev. and Mrs. Merle Prater. Pallbearers were Calvin Nickell, Marvin Leach, Richard Fain, Carl Ruark, Larry Andrews and Richard Miller. Masonic services were held Tuesday evening with Advance Lodge No. 372 of Allerton in charge. Interment was in the Corydon cemetery. Contributor: TracyL (47141011)∼John held the rank of AD3 in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War.
