Visner, 53, of Glidden, who died early Saturday morning at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll. Mr. Visner, who had been ill about two weeks, had been hospitalized 11 days. Officiating at the rites will be the Rev. J.D. Stanley of Pleasant Ridge and the Rev. Cecil C. Latta of Coon Rapids. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. The body is remaining at the Coder-Anderson Funeral Home here until the time of the services. Mr. Visner was born Sept. 1, 1901, in Carroll County, a son of John and Barbara Benda Visner. He lived in this community all his life. He was married to Effie West Dec. 22, 1931, at Carroll. For the last four years, the family home has been on a farm in the Pleasant Ridge vicinity. Mr. Visner was a farmer. Survivors include his wife; one son, Norman, in the U.S. Navy; three brothers, Frank, in Minnesota, Alfred, [in] Auburn and Edward, Lake City; and seven sisters: Mrs. Joe (Mary) Hart, Mrs. Ira (Albia) Sigler, Mrs. Nile (Katie) Smith and Mrs. Ray (Iva) Goodwin, all living in Minnesota, Mrs. William (Rushie) Gute, Mrs. William (Agnes) Goodwin and Mrs. Howard (Emma) Hart, Coon Rapids. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Obituary, from Carroll Daily Times Herald (Carroll, Iowa) Friday, April 15, 1955, page 11; JOHN G. Visner, 53, of Glidden, who died early Saturday morning at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Methodist Church in Coon Rapids. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. Final rites, previously set for Tuesday afternoon, had been postponed awaiting word from Mr. Visner's son, Norman, pharmacist's first mate, USN, who arrived in Carroll at 3:25 p.m. Thursday. His ship had been stationed at Marseilles, France, and was to sail Wednesday for two-week maneuvers on the ocean when word was received of his father's death.
