John W. Egler died Octobert 23, 1939 in North Richland Township, Defiance County, Ohio JOHN W. EGLER DIES SUDDENLY October 23, 1939. A few minutes after he finished husking a field of corn, John W. Egler, 70, Route 4, Defiance, collapsed Monday at 6 P.M. in the yard at his home in North Richland Township as he started to the pasture to call the cows. He was dead when his son Rudolph reached his side, the victim of a heart attack. Mr. Egler was born Oct. 2, 1869, in a log cabin on the same farm where he died. He had always lived at the same location. The body has been returned to the home. Services will be held from the residence at 1:30 P.M. Thursday and from the Independence Methodist Church at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Services for John W. Egler were held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the residence and 2 p.m. in Independence Methodist church with Dr. W. H. Shepfer of Defiance officiating. Pallbearers were Rosco Locy, Russell Brubaker, Jacob Bishop, George Steingass, Ross Spangler, and Alva Trubey. Flowers were carried by Doris Louise Hull, Paula Dunbar, Florence, Helen, Alberta, Junior, and William Egler, Ruth Baker, Beulah Klintworth, Loa, Beulah, Kenneth and Junior Steingass, Martha Mannon, Doris and Carl Flory, Wilma Jean Hammon and Junior Ruch.
