House was born near Cincinnati, Ohio, Feb. 16, 1846 and departed this life at Bonaparte, Iowa, Nov. 9, 1916, aged 70 years, 8 months and 24 days, his death being due to bronchial pneumonia. Although his disease was tedious his condition was not considered serious until Tuesday morning, from which time he grew worse rapidly until death relieved his suffering. In the year of 1861 he came, with his parents to Van Buren Co., Iowa, and on March 28, 1867, was united in marriage to Elizabeth Thompkins. To this union were born seven children, two daughters preceding him to the better land, one dying in infancy and Minnie whose death occurred Dec. 12, 1900; while three daughters and two sons remain to mourn their loss; Mrs. F.M. Muntz, Mrs. R.M. Story, Mrs. L.C. Rankin, and N.B. and W.W. House all living in and near Bonaparte. Besides his sorrowing wife and five children he leaves nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one brother and three sisters to mourn his untimely death. Soon after his marriage Mr. House located on a farm near Bonaparte where he with his family resided for 46 years, the last 3 ½ years of his life being spent in Bonaparte. Mr. House was an industrious, honest, and upright man, a kind father and obliging neighbor always devoted to his home and family. In his early life he was converted and became a member of the Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon at one with Rev. Park officiating, also at Story Chapel with Rev. Hawk officiating.
