Funeral services were held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the S. S. Phillip and James church, Grand Mound, with the Rev. C. F. Griffith, officiating. Burial was in the Calvary cemetery. Kelly was born in DeWitt, Iowa, November 25, 1867, the son of Roger and Jane McDevitt Kelly and moved to Grand Mound at the age of three and was a life long resident of this place. He was united in marriage to Myrtle McLaughlin, Nov. 25, 1890. He was engaged in the grain and livestock business with his father at an early age and has been in the furniture and undertaking business for half a century. He was treasurer of the Farmers' Mutual Telephone company at the time of his death, the office he had held for many years. He is survived by his wife, three sons, Raymond V. and Leo C., who were associated with their father in business and Harry W., postmaster of Grand Mound, one brother, Roger F. Kelly, two sisters, Margaret and Alice Kelly, and one step-brother, John Harkins, all of Grand Mound; five grandchildren, Tech. Sgt. Raymond J. Kelly of San Francisco, Calif., Robert, Larry, Camilla and Maureen, and one great grandson, Jimmie, all of Grand Mound, besides a host of relatives and friends.
