JEFFERSON BEE - Tuesday, December 5th, 1933 — The funeral of John Kruger, a former well known resident of Willow township was held Tuesday afternoon at the Lutheran church in Willow, with Rev Friedrich officiating, and burial made beside his wife in the nearby cemetery. Mr. Kruger was found dead in bed last Saturday morning at the home of his daughter in Kansas. The funeral party came overland to his old home church. Mr. Kruger came to Greene county in 1888 and was one of the honored and industrious citizens of the southwestern section of this county for more than thirty years. His wife died in 1917 and for the last few years he has made his home with his daughter, Emma. William Gustoff of Greenbrier township is a brother-in-law of the deceased. COON RAPIDS ENTERPRISE - Friday, December 1st, 1933 - John W. Krueger, 81, for thirty years a resident of Willow township but for the past twelve years a resident of Powhattan, Kansas died at the home of his daughter there last Saturday, November 25th. Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran church in Willow township Tuesday afternoon, Rev. W.H. Friedrich officiating. Burial was in Willow cemetery. Obituary will appear next week. COON RAPIDS ENTERPRISE - Friday, December 8th, 1933 - John W Kroeger was born on the 27th day of June in the year of our Lord 1852 in Main, Cook county, IL. In early childhood he was baptized in the name of the Lord and at the age of 15 years was confirmed in the faith of the Lutheran church, remaining a steadfast member of the said church unto his end. His boyhood days were spent in Maine, IL. Later he spent some years in Chicago. In the year of 1888 on the 17th day of July he was united in holy wedlock with Wilhelmine Hirsch, nee Jacobs. Said union was blessed with a daughter, Emma. In the fall of 1888 he came to Greene county settling on a farm in Willow township. Here almost 30 years of his life was spent. He became a member of the Trinity Lutheran church until 1918 when he made his home with his daughter in Carroll, NE. In the year 1917 the messenger of death summoned from his side his faithful and devoted wife. Shortly after the death of his wife he came to Carroll, NE, remaining there for 4 years and spending the remaining period of his days in Powhatan, KS, namely 12 years. At the time when he was called home on the morning of November 25th, he had reached the age of 81 years, 4 months, and 28 days. He was a loving father, a wise counselor and a devoted friend. Those who are sorrow stricken, mourning his departure are: His daughter, Emma, a son-in-law N Sereres, grandson Edgar Sereres, all of Powhattan, KS; a step daughter Carrie Bailey and her husband Frank Bailey of Coon Rapids; four grandchildren: Mrs Carl Lucht of Bayard, Ross and Vera Hancock of Sanborn, and Ira Gilley of Coon Rapids; also Carl Lucht and Mrs Ira Gilley.
