Description	:	John was the son of Arthur Miles and Mary McNiel. He married Florence on 09 Jan 1883 in Carroll, Iowa. They were the parents of Ora, Harry, and Stanley. They were the parents of Ora, Harry, and Stanley. Jan 10, 1896 - Carroll Sentinel - J.W. Miles, of this city, died at El Paso, Texas, yesterday at 4 o'clock. About two months ago the deceased, who was a consumptive, left for there hoping to find relief. At first it was thought that the change would be beneficial, but it was only of short duration. The patient failed rapidly and for some days it was known that his life hung in the balance and his wife has been prepared at any moment to bear the sad news. The remains will be shipped here for burial. As it is not known when they will arrive, no date for the funeral has been set. The exercises will be conducted by the I.O.O.F. of this city of which he was a member. For a number of months the deceased has been gradually failing and it was grasping at the last straw of hope when he concluded to go to Texas hoping to gain relief. Mr. Miles has been a resident of this city for a number of years and was an honest, conscentious man and was a devout christian. His death is deeply mourned by his wife and relatives, who have the sympathy of the community in this sad hour of their misfortunes.
