Description	:	OBITUARY : JOHN W. NICHOLS, aged 88, of Cascade, Md., died at 10:55 a.m. Wednesday at the Washington County Hospital. He was critically ill for the past eight weeks and had been a patient at the hospital since April 23. Born at Cascade, he was the son of William A. and Susan (Royer) Nichols. His early life was spent at Cascade and for 40 years resided in Hagerstown where he had been employed by the Western Maryland Railway and the New York Central Iron Works. He was critically ill for the past eight weeks and had been a patient at the hospital since April 23. Born at Cascade, he was the son of William A. and Susan (Royer) Nichols. His early life was spent at Cascade and for 40 years resided in Hagerstown where he had been employed by the Western Maryland Railway and the New York Central Iron Works. Twenty- three years ago he returned to Cascade and for the past 12 years, had made his home with his sister, Mrs. Mary Benchoff. He was last employed at Fort Ritchie as a fireman during the past war. His wife, Miranda C. Miller, died 15 years ago. He was a member of the Reformed Church, Sabillasvilie, Md., and was a charter member of the Junior O.U.A.M., Pen Mar Council 25. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. R. T. Howard, Sharpsburg, Md.; sister, Mrs. Mary Benchoff, Cascade; and two brothers, Alfred Nichols. Cascade, and Clarence N.,Philadelphia; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro, the Rev. C. H. Corl officiating. Burial will be made in the Reformed Church Cemetery. Sabillasville. Friends may call Friday, 7-9 p.m. at the Grove Funeral Home.
