Description	:	BRUNSWICK--Funeral services were held Sunday, May 25 at 2p.m. from the Brunswick Congregational church for Walter Forbes. Burial was in the Brunswick Cemetery. John Walter Forbes was born at LaMolle, Ia., July 20. He passed away May 22 at the age of 71. He was the son of Nathan and Jane Forbes. The family came to Nebraska, when he was a baby. Burial was in the Brunswick Cemetery. John Walter Forbes was born at LaMolle, Ia., July 20. He passed away May 22 at the age of 71. He was the son of Nathan and Jane Forbes. The family came to Nebraska, when he was a baby. His mother passed away, when he was 14 months old. He, then, lived with relatives in Iowa for several years. Later returning to the vicinity of Plainview, where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Della Gallentine of O'Neill, Feb. 28, 1906 at Neligh. To this union two children were born, Dale of Omaha and Doris Ulrich of Sioux City, Ia. As pioneers, the newlyweds went to Wessington Springs, S.D., moving from there to Buffalo Gap, S.D. In 1911, they returned to Nebraska, locating in the Crawford Valley community. He served several years on the district school board. For the past several years, they made their home in Brunswick. He suffered from a heart ailment the last five years. On Jan. 21, 1951, he suffered a stroke, which impaired his speech. Surviving are his wife and children; one sister, Lottie Weaver of Neligh; two half brothers, Leonard of Monnete, Mo. and Russell of Plainview; four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Nellie Gable, his stepmother, Theresa Forbes and a half brother, Leslie. ...The Creighton News 5 June 1952
