Description	:	John Walter Holloway was the 5th child of 8 born to Jasper Madison Holloway and Nancy Jane Bowen Holloway. He was born on February 21, 1884 in Harrison County, Missouri. He was a brother to Leonard George Holloway, Martha Jane "Mattie" Holloway Lowe Omstead; Mary Luella Holloway (born & died 1880), Orton Harrington Holloway, Newton Leroy Edward "DOC" Holloway, Uriah "Scott" Holloway, and James Amlick "Jim" Holloway. John became a member of the RLDS Church in his youth. John Walter Holloway married Vera Edna Stuck on August 28, 1916. Seven children were born to this couple: Walter "Merle" Holloway, Ruth Louise Holloway Summerfield, Nellie Mae Holloway Russianno, Lena "Maxine" Holloway Elliot, Lila "Margaret" Holloway, John Edward Holloway, Donald Neal "Buster" Holloway. After their marriage, John and Vera farmed in Missouri until 1920, when they moved back to Ringold County, near Mount Ayr, Iowa. In 1925, they moved back to Missouri where they lived until 1940. Like most farm families and others, this Holloway family was also hit hard by the Great Depression, lingering hard times, and the Dust Bowl of the 1930's. John and Vera Holloway moved with their seven children from the area of Eagleville, Harrison County, Missouri and Lamoni, Iowa, to Dunlap, Iowa in 1940, in hope of a more prosperous future. John's brothers Jim and Scott, along with Scott's family, settled on a farm in nearby Shelby County, around Kirkman, a few years earlier. They farmed southeast of Dunlap for 5 years, then lived in Dunlap for 13 years, then moved to a small farm east of Woodbine, Iowa, in 1962. John and Vera celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary with their family on their farm near Woodbine on August 28, 1966. John died at his home near Woodbine, Iowa on Thursday, July 20, 1972, at the age of 88 years and 5 months. Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church in Dunlap, Iowa. Officiating were the Rev. Clarence M. Morrison and Elder Darrell Argotsinger.
