Description	:	Kline John Washington, a settler of the year 1846 who died at his home three miles northeast of Albion on April 15, 1896, was a native of the state of Pa. He was born in York County of that state April 17, 1821, and therefore lacked but two days of 75 years. At the age of 11 years he went with his parents to Canton, Ohio in 1832 and resided there or in that vicinity for 13 years. In 1845, being 24 years old, he joined the Masonic order. Read More	Kline John Washington, a settler of the year 1846 who died at his home three miles northeast of Albion on April 15, 1896, was a native of the state of Pa. He was born in York County of that state April 17, 1821, and therefore lacked but two days of 75 years. At the age of 11 years he went with his parents to Canton, Ohio in 1832 and resided there or in that vicinity for 13 years. In 1845, being 24 years old, he joined the Masonic order. The next year, 1846, he came to Noble County, arriving here in Nov. Two years and a half afterward he married Elizabeth, a daughter of Lewis Potts, a pioneer of 1836. The marriage took place on the 19th of May, 1850, and on the 4th of Aug. following, less than 3 months from their wedding day, the young wife died. In 1854, Dec. 21, he married Louisa, the sister of his deceased bride, and this union continued until his death. His wife, one daughter, six grandchildren, the son-in-law and one sister survive. The sister is Mrs. Christiana Skinner of Albion, widow of James Skinner, the pioneer of Jefferson Twp who died many years ago. He was a carpenter by trade, having served his apprenticeship in Ohio before coming to Noble County. His widow, Mrs. Louisa (Potts) Kline, who is one of the first pioneers, her continuous residence in Jefferson Twp dating back to 1836, remains at the old Kline homestead three miles northeast of Albion. With her are their only daughter, Mrs. Eugenia Belt, her son-in-law, Edwin Belt and six grandchildren. A sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Schaff, reside in Albion. Mrs. Kline and Mrs. Schaff are daughters of Lewis Potts, a pioneer of 1836 who took a leading part in the early affairs of Jefferson Twp. + Clippings book
