Description	:	John Wesley Hanlin, age 84, of Neligh, Nebraska, passed away on July 22, 2016. He was born on August 1, 1931, the son of William Wilbur and Margaret Frances "Mae" Goeury Hanlin at Geneva, Nebraska. John graduated from Geneva High School with the Class of 1949. John was drafted into the United States Army on February 12, 1953 at Omaha, Nebraska, and discharged on February 2, 1955, at Fort Carson, Colorado. He received Korean Service Medal. He was born on August 1, 1931, the son of William Wilbur and Margaret Frances "Mae" Goeury Hanlin at Geneva, Nebraska. John graduated from Geneva High School with the Class of 1949. John was drafted into the United States Army on February 12, 1953 at Omaha, Nebraska, and discharged on February 2, 1955, at Fort Carson, Colorado. He received Korean Service Medal. Through the years, John worked at Heath's Market, Safeway, Thiftway, Jack and Jill, and City of Neligh. He was a member of Neligh EMT/Firemen, Jaycee's, American Legion and VFW, Neligh Chamber of Commerce, and member of Grace Lutheran Church where he usher and held several office. John enjoyed woodworking, Fishing/hunting, and Listening to Ham Radio. Survived by: his wife, Carol; children, Kurt and wife, Peg Hanlin, Debb and husband, Lee Pofahl, and Kent and wife, Suzanne Hanlin; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Art) Roemmich. Preceded in death by: parents; grandson, Bradley Hanlin; infant brother, Robert; brothers, William Hanlin and his wife, Kate, and James Hanlin; infant sister, Doris; sister and Margaret and her husband, John Fahlberg. Funeral Service on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church in Neligh. Burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Neligh with Military rites conducted by Neligh American Legion Post # 172 and VFW #5287 and American Legion Riders.
