Description	:	Pvt.John W. James joined Co.D 2nd Indiana Calvary and Co.H 41st Inf, during the Civil War, on August 6,1862 Edgeville Tenn and Muster-out June 25,1865 Nashville Tenn. Enlisted in the 1st Tenn Mounted Inf for 3 months.While serving with the 41st Indiana, He paid 20cents for the loss of a curry comb. He filed for a Civil Pension in 1917 No:704164. He received $100. a month until his death. His second wife filed for his civil war veterans widow pension of $100. a month and $280. Burial Expenses. She drew the pension until her death. He could Read and write When John Wesley got old he would march up and down his porch and recite the names of all the men in his company ,to the great delight of his grand children, when he reached his name he would stomp his feet and say John Wesley James (that's me) The graves of John and Winnie are in disrepair, have spoken to the owners of the property and he said they will be fixing it up. A old tree has fallen down and done damage to the fence and headstone. Last seen 2015,their graves are located at 610 Holiday Haven, Smithville ,TN on the property of Mr. Trent Phipps he is very nice person and doesn't mind family visiting as long as you let them know you are there.
