Hardin County Index; Eldora, IA; Fri., 20 Nov 1953; p1 John W. St. John, son of Harvey and Mary St. John, was born in Russel, Iowa, Nov. 1, 1871. He came to Eldora with his parents at the age of three years and lived in this vicinity nearly all his life. At the age of 23 he was married to Laura E. Brown of Fonda. Seven children were born to this union. Four children and his wife preceded him in death. Mr. St. John was a mason by trade. He passed away Sunday at the age of 82 years after a long illness. He is survived by three children, Tom and Wesley of Buena, Wash., and Bess of Michigan, also one brother and six sisters. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Longenecker Funeral Home, with Rev. L.R. Schuler officiating. Burial was in the Eldora Cemetery.
