He was born at Raymond, Iowa on April 13th, 1878 where he spent his boyhood days and later moving to Plymouth County. He was united in marriage to Mary Alma Billings in Le Mars. July 27th, 1898. Read More	BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES !OBITUARY: JOHN BIXBY John Wilbur Bixby passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital Monday June 9th, 1952 after suffering a heart attack earlier in the day. He was born at Raymond, Iowa on April 13th, 1878 where he spent his boyhood days and later moving to Plymouth County. He was united in marriage to Mary Alma Billings in Le Mars. July 27th, 1898. After his marriage he farmed in Iowa and South Dakota until 1940 when he moved to Park Rapids, Minn, where he resided until the death of his beloved wife who passed away on Dec. 4, 1950. Since that time he has made his home at Sioux City with his daughter, Mrs Gordon Stokes. The deceased was employed as night clerk at the West Hotel for the past two years. He was a member of I.O.O.F. Lodge and Methodist Church of Park Rapids, Minn. Mr and Mrs Bixby celebrated their Golden Wedding at the home of his daughter, Mrs Gordon Stokes on July 27th. 1948. He is survived by one son, John Levi Bixby of Madison, South Dakola; 3 daughters. Mrs Ernest Gist (Marian) of Madison, South Dakota; Mrs Judith Yeager (Lennice) of Topeka, Kansas; Mrs Gordon Stokes (Dollie) of Le Mars, Iowa; 1 brother, Melvin Bixby of Browning, Montana; 2 sisters, Mrs. H. L. Thurber of Rochester, Minn.; Mrs H H Bell of Sioux City, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Luken's funeral home, Thursday, June 12, 1952 at 2 p.m. Rev Dorley Ganfield officiating Music was by the Union Twp Presbyterian Church quartet. Burial was in the city cemetery beside his beloved wife. Luken's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pall bearers were: Charles Eyres, Paul Parry, Clarence Schroeder, Calvin Eyres, Joseph Sheehan, Carlton Stokes. From the June 12, 1952 Le Mars Globe Post, Le Mars, Iowa page 17.
