A Memorial Service was held Monday, September 19, 2011 at the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Arkansas. John W. "Bill" Henderson BELLA VISTA, Ark. – John W. "Bill" Henderson, 84, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at the Concordia Healthcare in Bella Vista, Ark. He was born Nov. 9, 1926, in Abilene, the son of John C. and Josephine (Duncan) Henderson. Growing to manhood in Abilene, he attended local schools and graduated from Abilene High School with the class of 1944. He was a World War II veteran. He had been employed by Diamond Engineering in Wichita for 44 years before retiring and moving to Bella Vista, Ark. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Henderson of Bella Vista, Ark.; daughter, Barbara (Jim) Steele of Omaha, Neb.; two sons, Mike Henderson of Wichita and Patrick (Caroline) Henderson of Raytown, Mo.; two grandchildren, Laurel and John Robert Steele of Omaha, Neb.; sister, Mary Amess of Abilene and a nephew, David Amess of Abilene. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Danner Funeral Home with Father Henry Baxa officiating. Inurnment will follow in Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery north of Abilene. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be given to the St. Andrew Catholic Church and left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home, P.O. Box 758, Abilene, KS 67410.
