He married Evely [sic] Johnson on June 29, 1929, in Ottumwa. She died on Nov. 18, 1979. He was a resident of Ottumwa all of his life except from 1971 to 1984 when he lived in Tucson, Ariz. He was an employee of the Iowa Steam Laundry before joining the Ottumwa Fire Department in 1944, where he served for 27 years before retiring as a captain in 1971. He was a member of the International Association of Firefighters Local #315, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #114 and was a social member of both O.B. Nelson Post #3 of the American Legion and Walter B. Shafer Post #775 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by a son, Jack Bohe of Tucson; a daughter, Beverly Bohe of Tucson; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a companion, Bea Cox of Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard Bohe and an infant brother. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Shaul Cemetery, Rev. Steve Thomas of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Visitation is open after 10 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home, with the family present from 3 to 5 p.m. Pallbearers will be Dick Sloan, Ab Yochum, Frank Sylvester, Bob Hem, Frank Orman and Floyd Dickerson. Memorials may be given to the Iowa Commission for the Blind.
