Description	:	John William Conner, 48 of Bent Mountain passed away on Thursday December 6, 2012. He was born October 10, 1964, the youngest of 7 children of Arthur Allen Conner and the late Bonnie Jasper Conner of Copper Hill. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Mickey Conner. In addition to his father and step-mother, Ilene Vest Conner, he is survived by his daughter, Megan Claire Conner who lives in Louisiana. He was born October 10, 1964, the youngest of 7 children of Arthur Allen Conner and the late Bonnie Jasper Conner of Copper Hill. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Mickey Conner. In addition to his father and step-mother, Ilene Vest Conner, he is survived by his daughter, Megan Claire Conner who lives in Louisiana. He is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Luther Galyean of Copper Hill, VA., Katherine and Clay Giles, also of Copper Hill, VA., Sandy DeHart of Troutville, VA., amd Mary and Leon Elkins of Statesville, NC., John is also survived by his brother, Tommy Conner of Elliston, VA., numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. John began playing bluegrass as a young boy, quickly learning banjo tunes by the time he was 10 years old. He joined his older brothers, Mickey and Tommy to record with the bluegrass band, "The Conner Brothers", at age 12. Music played a dominant role in John's life as he spent much time practicing, performing and competing at bluegrass festivals and fiddle and banjo clubs. John is sadly missed by his family and friends, and we are grateful for John's belief in Jesus Christ for his salvation. Services will be at Oakey's South Chapel on Brambleton Ave. at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December December 9, 2012. The Rev. Marty Moyer will officiate, Interment will follow in Rest Vale Cemetery, Floyd County.
