Description	:	John William Fansher II was born in Jefferson County, Iowa, Dec. 24, 1864 to John William Fansher I and Martha Jane Fleenor, daughter of Abram N. and Rebecca (McColloch) Fleenor. He married Ella May Campbell in Batavia October 21, 1885 at her home with the Rev. H.R. Miller officiating. She was the daughter Of Joseph and Emma Randolph Campbell, born in Wapello County, Iowa, August 8, 1883. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1935. Read More	John William Fansher II was born in Jefferson County, Iowa, Dec. 24, 1864 to John William Fansher I and Martha Jane Fleenor, daughter of Abram N. and Rebecca (McColloch) Fleenor. He married Ella May Campbell in Batavia October 21, 1885 at her home with the Rev. H.R. Miller officiating. She was the daughter Of Joseph and Emma Randolph Campbell, born in Wapello County, Iowa, August 8, 1883. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1935. John was a farmer and was remembered as a very pleasant person, always friendly. Over the years he bought and sold several farms. During the land boom that occurred in the 1920's he owned 4 farms at one time. He said the way to pay for a farm was to "hang on to an old sow's tail," meaning that raising pigs would help a farmer get ahead. John was known for being a champion at building oat shocks. His shocks always took up in the field until threshing time. He enjoyed hunting, especially squirrels. The Depression hurt him badly, as it did many farmers. About that time his health began to fail, and he spent his last years in Batavia residing near Fritz Nehre and Powel Morley. he died March 13, 1942 and was buried in the Batavia cemetery. Ella died in 1951 and was buried beside him.
