Mr. Fowler's body was found under that of the cow, which was also killed. The barn was not damaged materially. John W. Fowler, son of Thomas William and Sarah Ann Burkitt Fowler, was born in Yorkshire, England, Dec. 6, 1892, and passed away suddenly by a stroke of lightning at his home west of Rochester, July 1, 1933, aged 40 years, 6 months, and 25 days. His early boyhood was spent in England and he came to America with his parents in 1907, and has made his home in Cedar County ever since. He was married to Ethel May Callahan in 1914. To this union were born seven children, six of whom survive. Mr. Fowler's first wife died five years and seven months ago. In September, 1929, he was married to Daisy Reed. To this union was born one little girl who also survives her beloved father. John Fowler is survived by his wife, Daisy Reed Fowler, and seven children, Vera, now Mrs. Alfred Peters, Violet, Ernest, Paul, Wayne, Ethel May and Iva Jean; also his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Fowler; two brothers, Percy of Moscow, Tom of Wilton, and Lillie, now Mrs. H.E. Blue of Alberta, Canada. A loving father and husband, a choice, helpful neighbor, a good man whose life had in it many trials and tribulations. Mr. Fowler will be greatly missed. His tragic passing enlists the sympathy of all.
