Description	:	Former Minden resident John W. Keen, 96, of Kearney died Saturday, Oct. 21, 1995, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Services were held at First Christian Church in Minden with the Rev. Dr. Terry Palmer officiating. Mr. Keen was born April 28, 1899, to William and Bertha (Gartner) Keen in a sod house northeast of Minden. He attended school at Elwood. On Feb. 18, 1920, he married Imogene Conyers in Smithfield. Read More	Former Minden resident John W. Keen, 96, of Kearney died Saturday, Oct. 21, 1995, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Services were held at First Christian Church in Minden with the Rev. Dr. Terry Palmer officiating. Mr. Keen was born April 28, 1899, to William and Bertha (Gartner) Keen in a sod house northeast of Minden. He attended school at Elwood. On Feb. 18, 1920, he married Imogene Conyers in Smithfield. He worked on ranches and farms and did carpenter work in several locations, including Minden, Wauneta and Ogallala. In 1956, they moved to Minden. They moved to Kearney in 1975. He continued to do carpentry work. His wife died in 1987. In 1988 he moved in with his son, Lawrence, and family. In 1993 he moved to Mother Hull Home. He was a member of First Christian Church in Minden. Survivors are three sons, LaVern of Minden, Lawrence of Kearney and Herman LeRoy of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; two daughters, Luella Albers of Minden and Ardyce Nielsen of Kearney; two sisters, Rose Unger of McCook and Lula Short of Fort Calhoun; one brother, Martin of McCook; 22 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by two sons, Harold and Alvin, and 2 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
