Knox was conducted Monday, Dec. 16, in the First Methodist church. There were Masonic graveside rites with burial in Greenwood cemetery. James K. Irwin, pastor of the church, officiated. Mr. Knox died in the Lexington hospital Dec. 13 after a short illness. Pallbearers were W. A. Stewart, Sr., Glenn Knapple, L. M. Swartz, Clayton Ransdell, Alfred N. Cochran, Jr. and Charles T. Draper. Mr. Knox was a member of the Midwest Lodge No. 317, A.F. and A.M. at Hastings, Knights Templar, the Shrine, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Methodist Church since April 16, 1908, and the Lions club. John William Knox, third son of Robert and Mary Keyes Knox, was born near Holdrege, Sept. 18, 1890. For 22 years before coming to Lexington, he was in the banking business in various places throughout Nebraska. In 1944, he came to Lexington from Omaha and established the real estate and insurance business which he operated until the time of his death. He is survived by Dr. John F. Knox of Glendale, Calif., a son by a former marriage; his wife, Gwen; two daughters, Linda and Synde of Lexington; brothers, Oscar Knox of Loveland, Colo., and Arthur Knox of Los Angeles; and two grandsons. Those who came from a distance for the services were Dr. and Mrs. John F. Knox of La Canada, Calif.; Arthur Knox of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Robert Knox and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald McConnell and sons of Hastings; Mr. and Mrs. John W. Schwenk, and Mrs. John E. Schwenk, La Dana and Bruce of Harvard; and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Paul of McCook.
