Two years afterward he and his wife removed to Indiana, and after a residence there of thirteen years they came to Iowa, which was then known as the far west. Their first location was in Adams County, on a farm near the present site of Corning. Two years afterward he and his wife removed to Indiana, and after a residence there of thirteen years they came to Iowa, which was then known as the far west. Their first location was in Adams County, on a farm near the present site of Corning. In 1867 they came to Page County and after remaining here twenty-one years they moved to Taylor County, not far from Siam. To them were born ten children, eight of whom were present at the funeral, viz: Elizabeth M. Berringer, and Mack E. Miller, Clarinda; Eleanor (Mrs. White), W. [illiam] F. [lavious], M. [ilton] W. [eston], and O.[rlando] T. [rippet] of Siam; E.[dward] M. [ason] of Shambaugh, and Sarah C.[atherine] (Mrs. McPherrin), Corning, Ia. One son, John Q. [uincy], died at the age of 9 years and James S. died in 1864. Mrs. Miller died Aug. 11, 1890, and since that time the husband has lived among his children, most of whom live in Taylor County. After a brief illness he went into the higher life, Nov. 22, 1905, at 9:55 p. m., aged 89 years, 9 months and 22 days. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church in Siam on Friday, Nov. 24, conducted by the pastor, Rev. S. E. Brown. Interment was in the Siam cemetery. Mr. Miller had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church for nearly fifty years, was a splendid man, a good neighbor, and his children are self respected and well respected.
