Description	:	John Wilson Sothers, son of John Thomas and Mary (Wynn)Sothers, was born on the family homestead west of Scandia, on April 5, 1882, and departed this life on April 2, 1987, at the age of 54 years, 11 months and 27 days. At 14 years of age he moved with his parents to Topeka, where he attended school and took a course at Stickler's Business College. He returned to Republic county in 1901, and on November 15, 1905, was married to Miss Eva Woods. To this union five children were born, one of whom, Evelyn, died... Read More	John Wilson Sothers, son of John Thomas and Mary (Wynn)Sothers, was born on the family homestead west of Scandia, on April 5, 1882, and departed this life on April 2, 1987, at the age of 54 years, 11 months and 27 days. At 14 years of age he moved with his parents to Topeka, where he attended school and took a course at Stickler's Business College. He returned to Republic county in 1901, and on November 15, 1905, was married to Miss Eva Woods. To this union five children were born, one of whom, Evelyn, died in infancy. For five, years after his marriage he lived on a farm adjoining the family homestead engaging, with his brother Elmer, in farming and livestock raising. In 1910 the family moved to farm which they have since occupied. On March 30th he and his brother Elmer were called to Blairstown, Mo. because of the, serious illness of their brother, Jesse. They arrived in time to visit him before his death. While still there he was stricken by chest and abdominal pains, a physician was summoned. Death was caused by Coronary Thrombosis. John leaves to mourn him, his wife, Eva, and four children, Wilbur, Mae and Doris of the home and Victor of Kansas City, a brother, Elmer, of Courtland, and a great host of relatives, business associates, fraternal associates and a wide circle o£ friends. John's body was brought to Scandia Sunday and funeral services were conducted Tuesday from the home and the Methodist church with interment in the Courtland cemetery.
