Description	:	John Zimmer, the second son of Franz and Anna Zimmer, was born in a log house in Loup Township, Pleasanton, Nebr., on May 9, 1880, and has lived in the neighborhood of Pleasanton and Hazard since then, laboring as a farmer. He was united in marriage on May 1, 1903, to Mattie Asher, also of the same neighborhood. Read More	John Zimmer, the second son of Franz and Anna Zimmer, was born in a log house in Loup Township, Pleasanton, Nebr., on May 9, 1880, and has lived in the neighborhood of Pleasanton and Hazard since then, laboring as a farmer. He was united in marriage on May 1, 1903, to Mattie Asher, also of the same neighborhood. To this union were born one son and three daughters, Sidney Willard, Beatrice, Ella Edna and Thelma Nellie, all of whom survive him. While he was attending school at Fremont, Mr. Zimmer became interested in revival services being held there at the time, and while still a young man, 22 years of age, he confessed his faith in Jesus Christ and pledged himself to the teachings of his Lord. Since then, he has been interested in church services, attending at Pleasanton, Pleasant Valley, and more recently Hazard. Last spring he had the joy of seeing his whole family confess their faith as he had done, and he saw them baptized and received into membership in the church at Hazard. For the past two years Mr. Zimmer had been suffering from injures received in an accident, and last fall his condition became more serious. He was confined to bed, however, but a little more than ten days. A week ago, he was stricken with paralysis on his left side, and continued to grow weaker, and toward the last suffered greatly. At 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9th, he was summoned on and entered the presence of God, having lived 45 years and 8 months by the grace of God. He leaves to mourn his loss, his loving widow, his four devoted children, his little grandchild, Winona Fern Rasmussen, six brothers, Adolph, Frank, Louis, William, Ernest and Charles, and five sisters, Mrs. Mary Shutt, Mrs. Emma Bretz, Mrs. Ida McLean, Mrs. Clara Johnson, and Mrs. Minnie Latzke. He was a member of the Hazard Camp, I. O. O. F., and his lodge brothers conducted the services at the cemetery. Funeral services were held from the United Brethren church, Pleasantoon, with Rev. W. E. Wilson, of Hazard, in charge, assisted by Rev. Giles, of Pleasant Valley, and Rev. Strickler, of Pleasanton. Interment was in the Pleasanton Cemetery.
