Description	:	Johnnie Jurrens was born March 6, 1924, in Deuel County, South Dakota, the son of George and Mattie (Kruse) Jurrens. He died on Sunday, February 17, 2008 at the Brookings Hospital at the age of 83 years. He grew up in Deuel County and attended Oak Lake School #60. He started farming as a young man and enjoyed farming in Brookings County his whole life. Johnnie was united in marriage to Ilene Ramlo in Lake Benton, Minnesota in 1945 and they were divorced in 1980. Johnnie was united in marriage to Ilene Ramlo in Lake Benton, Minnesota in 1945 and they were divorced in 1980. After he semi-retired from farming he operated a star mail route and sold farm equipment. Johnnie was a member of First Baptist Church in White and loved a cup of coffee with his friends at the Prairie Café. He also enjoyed telephone calls from family and friends and working on tractors and farm machinery. He is survived by seven children, Janice (Neal) Nelson of Hendricks, MN, DeWayne (Mary) Jurrens of Toronto, SD, Daniel Jurrens of Watertown, SD, Jolene (Tom) Koziatek of Brandon, SD, Judy (Rick) Ganser of Granger, IN, Dave (Nyla) Jurrens of White, SD, Janell Jurrens of Bradenton, FL; 25 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; three sisters, Lydia Stemple of Brookings, Marian (Marvin) Lundquist of Neligh, NE, Marlys Hexum of Sioux Falls, SD; one sister-in-law, Cindi Patton of Watertown, SD; one brother-in-law, Harm P. Kruse of White, SD; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends including his church family at First Baptist Church. Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Marvin and two sisters, Harriet and Darlene. Funeral Service: Thursday, February 21, 2008 First Baptist Church, White, South Dakota, Rev. Paul McDowell, Officiating Interment: Fairview Cemetery, White, SD Arrangements by Rude's Funeral Home in Brookings.
