Description	:	PILOT MOUNTAIN, NC ~ Ms. Johnnie Mae Boyles, age 85 of Pilot Mountain, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at her home. She was born in Surry County on November 29, 1923 to the late Walter Franklin and Mary Frances Venable Boyles. Ms. Boyles attended Pilot Mountain High School and graduated among the top three in her class. She was retired from the Social Security Administration and was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church. Read More	PILOT MOUNTAIN, NC ~ Ms. Johnnie Mae Boyles, age 85 of Pilot Mountain, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at her home. She was born in Surry County on November 29, 1923 to the late Walter Franklin and Mary Frances Venable Boyles. Ms. Boyles attended Pilot Mountain High School and graduated among the top three in her class. She was retired from the Social Security Administration and was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church. Ms. Boyles was a member of the Mary Oliver Gordon Sunday School Class, where she served as class secretary. She also served the church in the capacity of Financial Secretary for many years. She was a member of Women on Missions Group, beginning as a Sunbeam. She also served as Pianist for the Sunday School opening for many years and member of the Church Choir for over sixty years. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Boyles is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Lois McDaniel, Myrl Weisner and Elizabeth Latham; four brothers, Carl, Delbert, Max and Vestal Boyles. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Gene Sherrill conducting the service. Interment will be in the Pilot Mountain City Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral services. Cox-Needham Funeral Home is assisting the Boyles family.
