Description	:	Funeral services for Johnnie R. Reynolds Jr., age 61, of Niobrara will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Niobrara Lutheran Church in Niobrara, Nebraska. Reverend Kelley Pedersen will officiate with burial in L'Eau Qui Court Cemetery in Niobrara. Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 224 and VFW Post 4834 of Niobrara. Johnnie died Saturday, April 9, 2011 at St. Michaels's Hospital in Tyndall, South Dakota. Johnnie Richard Reynolds Jr. was born August 8, 1949, to John and Fern (Rose) Reynolds in Osmond, Nebraska. Johnnie joined his heavenly father doing what he loved, on the boat fishing, on April 9, 2011. Johnnie was baptized in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomfield, Nebraska. He was raised on the family farm west of Bloomfield. Johnnie attended grade school in rural Bloomfield, and graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1967. Upon graduating, Johnnie enlisted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He received the Purple Heart, and several other medals. After returning, in May of 1972, Johnnie married Kaye Hull. To this union, Penny Kaye Reynolds was born. Kaye joined her heavenly father due to a farming accident in 1973. On March 8, 1975, Johnnie married Marla Rae Clyde at the Niobrara Lutheran Church in Niobrara, NE. Upon marrying Marla, they became a blended family including, Mike, Mark, Steve, and Jodi. And to their union, Jami was born in 1977, and Cody was Johnnie's birthday present August 8, 1988. The family made their home on their farm east of Niobrara, NE. Johnnie farmed and ran his own welding shop in Bloomfield, NE. Johnnie also worked in Crofton as a welder. The family moved to Niobrara while Johnnie worked part time for Coutts Sand and Gravel, and Niobrara Sand and Gravel. The family then moved to a farm south of Verdel, NE. Johnnie started working for the State of Nebraska in 1989 and was recently promoted to Crew Chief. He worked several years for Greg's Motor and Marine. The family moved into Niobrara in the spring of 1988 where they currently live. Johnnie was involved in the Niobrara Fire Department and the Rescue Unit for 15 years. He was also Niobrara Lutheran Church council member. Thankful for having shared his life are his wife, Marla of 36 years; children, Mike (Amy) Reynolds of Springfield, SD, Mark (Julie) Reynolds of Niobrara, NE, Steve (Karri) Reynolds of Springfield, SD, Penny Reynolds of Niobrara, NE, Jodi (Mike) Henry of Niobrara, NE, Jami (Shawn) Ritter of Keystone, IA, and Cody (Brittany) Reynolds of Stanton, NE. He is also survived by his brothers, Randall (Markeeta) Reynolds of Flagstaff, AZ and Deland (Pam) Reynolds of Bloomfield, NE; sister, Brenda Ebsen of Parker, CO; brothers-in-law, Don (Jody) Clyde, Jack (Nancy) Clyde, and Jim Clyde all of O'Neill, NE; sister-in-law, Becky Clyde of Crofton, NE; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Johnnie will be forever cherished by his grandchildren, Coy, Addison, Logan, Garrett, Kennedi, Stephanie, Jace, Cyrina, Schyler, Chloe, Chelsey, Savannah, Wyatt, Natasha, Winter, Brooke, Carissa, Kenzie, Hayden, and his favorite grand puppy, Jaxon. Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, John and Fern; first wife, Kaye; brother-in-law, Stan; and both, maternal and paternal grandparents.
