Read More	Gaffney Ledger obituary September 6, 2017 Johnny Lyman Sarratt, 69, of 399 Concord Road, Gaffney, S.C. went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 4, 2017 at his residence. Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Bridget Whelchel Sarratt for 47 years and son of the late Lyman Sarratt and Millie Allison Sarratt. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School where he played football, was a member of the Gaffney Football Hall of Fame and also played in the Shrine Bowl game. He attended Gardner Webb University, Limestone College, and retired from the U. S. Air Force after 30 years of service. He was a Mason, a Shriner, an avid golfer and sports fan, and was inducted into the Cherokee County Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Kip Sarratt and wife, Kelli of Gaffney; a daughter, Shera Bell and husband, Kevin, of Gaffney; two grandchildren, Maddie Sarratt and Carley Holcombe. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eric Garner officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Honorary Pallbearers will be Johnny’s coaches and teammates he played with at Gaffney High School and at Cherokee County Fast Pitch League. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Coach Bob Prevatte Education Fund, P.O. Box 2012, Gaffney, S.C. 29342. The family will be at the residence, 399 Concord Road, Gaffney.
