According to his grandson, (38233467) Jasper S. Atkinson, Johnson E. Atkinson was son of Josiah S. Atkinson and Susan Wall Atkinson who resided in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.
His family settled on a farm on Moon Creek in Caswell County, eight miles South of Danville, Virginia, near the home of his wife's parents, Archibald and Mary Nichols Ingram.

According to his grandson, (38233467) Jasper S. Atkinson, Johnson E. Atkinson was son of Josiah S. Atkinson and Susan Wall Atkinson who resided in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.
His family settled on a farm on Moon Creek in Caswell County, eight miles South of Danville, Virginia, near the home of his wife's parents, Archibald and Mary Nichols Ingram.
In 1855 the family purchased land in Surry County, NC between Mt. Airy and Siloam. They had planned on moving there but prior to the move Johnson died on December 24, 1856. Following his death the widow, Elizabeth Horton Ingram Atkinson, took her children and moved to the new location.
The exact burial location for Johnson Easley Atkinson is unknown at this time and is currently being researched. Exact location will be added once obtained. The known facts regarding his burial are:

According to (38233467) Jasper S. Atkinson, grandson of Johnson Easley and (69107903) Elizabeth Ingram Atkinson, his grandmother "died in February 1904 in Surry County and was buried on the farm where she had lived for more than 50 years."
This cemetery today is know as the "Atkinson Family Cemetery" in Surry County, NC. Directions to get to the cemetery are: From intersection of US Hwy 52 and NC Hwy 268 in Pilot Mtn, go west on NC Hwy 268 for 6.4 miles. Then turn right on Eldora Rd and go 3 miles and cemetery will be on the left. Is surrounded by white cinder block wall across from Bryant Mill Rd (SR 2041).
