Johnson Eaton, one of the very well known farmers of Washington township, and an old resident of Marshall county, died at his home in LaMoille at 8:30 o'clock Saturday evening, after a year's suffering with cancer. Mr. Eaton's condition had been critical for several days, and altho he was operated on several times during this past year he failed to obtain relief. Mr. Eaton was born in Westmoreland county, Pa., in 1832, and came to Marshall county, settling near LaMoille in 1853. Johnson Eaton, one of the very well known farmers of Washington township, and an old resident of Marshall county, died at his home in LaMoille at 8:30 o'clock Saturday evening, after a year's suffering with cancer. Mr. Eaton's condition had been critical for several days, and altho he was operated on several times during this past year he failed to obtain relief. Mr. Eaton was born in Westmoreland county, Pa., in 1832, and came to Marshall county, settling near LaMoille in 1853. Up to about eight years ago he had resided on his farm north of that place, but since then had made his home in LaMoille. The wife, seven sons, and one daughter survive him. They are Mrs. C. C. Randall and Edward Eaton, of LaMoille; W. W. and O. J. Eaton, of this city; T. A. Eaton, of Pocahontas county; E. E. Eaton, of Ft. Stanley, Wash.; M. W. Eaton, of Gordon, Neb.; and D. A. Eaton, of Ft. Collins, Colo. The funeral was held from the Congregational church at LaMoille this morning at 11 o'clock, Rev. Charles F. Oxley officiating.
