Johnson married Nancy Caroline Meredith in Sept. 1893 in Grayson County, but they divorced. (She had two children - James N. and Linnie E. Meredith - from previous relationship/s.) Johnson married Rose Ann West in Feb. 1905. Their children were McKinley "Mack" and Ina Mary (both born out of wedlock), and Theodore C., Johnson M., and Lucy Virginia. Johnson and Rose were still alive at the time of the 1920 U.S. Census of Wilson Creek, Grayson County, Virginia. This Johnson Hale should NOT be confused with the Johnson Troy Hale who was born in January 1850 in Grayson County, Virginia, to Warner Hale and Mary "Polly" Cox. Johnson Troy Hale was enumerated as J.T. Hale, age 21, on the 1870 U.S. Census of Madison County, Nebraska, in the home of D.A. Hale, age 24. (D.A. Hale was David A. Hale, one of Johnson Troy's older brothers.)
