Jolene received her education at the Spencer High School in Spencer; Clay County, Iowa. On Tuesday; September 8, 1964 Jolene was united in marriage to William Lawrence Wiley at the United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg, Iowa To this union five children were born. Jolene worked at the Army Reserve Office following graduation and in the early 1980s she was employed at the Emmetsburg Care Center where she worked until 1997. She then went to Lakeside Lutheran Home where she was employed until her retirement on July 24, 2008. Jolene was an avid reader and enjoyed watching movies, playing games and doing puzzles. She was always proud of her gardens that she cared for each summer. Jolene had a collection of dolls and she loved her dogs. She was a caring and loving individual, always ready to care for her family and put them first but also for all of the residents that she helped care for in the nursing homes. Jolene Ann (Halstead) Wiley, age 63, passed away on Tuesday; February 3, 2009 at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her children: Lisa (Barney) Lomax of Curlew; Palo Alto County, Iowa. Sharon Wiley and Tracy McCallum of Emmetsburg, Iowa. William (Melissa) Wiley of Emmetsburg, Iowa. David (Luann) Wiley of Emmetsburg, Iowa and Jayson Wiley & Kay Kaiser of Emmetsburg, Iowa. Her eleven grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Her two brothers: Harold Halstead of Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida and Jim Halstead of Spencer, Iowa. Her three sisters: Ella Halstead of Emmetsburg, Iowa. Sandra Buhsmann of Mallard; Palo Alto County, Iowa and Darlene Stoermer of Gillett Grove; Clay County, Iowa. Also many nieces, nephews and a hose of friends. Jolene was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter: Morgan, five brothers: Ralph, Tom, Paul, Gregory, and George Halstead; and seven sisters: Sharlene, Betty, Marian, George-Etta, Paulette, Margrite and Donna. May they rest in peace. Visitation will be from: 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday; February 6, 2009 at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday; February 7, 2009 also at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg, Iowa.
