Description	:	Joline Kay Miller was born May 7, 1941 in Lebanon, Kansas to Ellis Wayne and Margaret (Boxum) Miller, the fourth child of seven. Her early years were spent on a farm in Smith County until her family moved to another farm in Jewell County where she still resided at the time of her death. Read More	Joline Kay Miller was born May 7, 1941 in Lebanon, Kansas to Ellis Wayne and Margaret (Boxum) Miller, the fourth child of seven. Her early years were spent on a farm in Smith County until her family moved to another farm in Jewell County where she still resided at the time of her death. Along with her siblings she attended Oak Creek School for eight years. Her education continued at Downs High School where she graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1959. She loved school and was blessed with a bright mind. She began working at Pat's IGA Foodliner in Downs shortly after high school graduation. In 1961 Joline began employment at the State Bank of Downs where she worked in the bookkeeping department. She eventually moved to the position of cashier in the bank where she worked until her retirement in 2007. She was blessed with an ability to work with numbers and loved her work...and most of all the people that she came in contact with through that work. Although she was by nature a quiet person, she related well to people and loved her interaction with customers. At home she was an excellent cook and had a special knack for making homemade candies and jellies, and loved to do embroidery work as long as her hands permitted. A spinal column problem and a debilitating form of arthritis finally took from her the ability to walk in 2009. From that time on she was confined to a wheelchair and had to have help with every daily task. She so appreciated the angels God sent to her to help care for her..Opal Rexroat, Barb Rannebeck, and later Gwen Smith. they had special places in her heart! Although she hated her disease and had continual pain, she rarely complained. What a blessing that was for those who cared for her. She loved her cats..and spent most of her days with at least one of them nestled on her lap. After being surrounded by family members for two days, God called her peacefully home early in the morning of August 9, 2012. She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne, in 1980, her mother, margaret in 2006, a sister, Jean in 2010, a sister-in-law, Donneta in 2011, nephew, Jay Frasier, a nephew, Larry Dale Miller, and two great nieces Janna Slate and Shelbie Paige Schreiner. She will be sorely missed by her brother, Melvin of Downs, brother-in-law,Raymond Frasier of Cawker City, brother, Marvin and wife, Carolyn of Cawker City, brother, Darrell and wife, Gail of Mankato, and a sister, Norma June Miller of the home, as well as two aunts, a host of nieces and nephews, who were all so special to her, and many cousins and friends. Also missing her will be the special feline friends that shared time on her lap, Toddy, Zack, Leo, and Lille Mae, and her faithful dog, Butch who greeted her on the rare occasions when she got outside. Funeral services were held Monday, August 13, 2012 @ 10;00 a.m. at the Dispatch Christian Reformed Church with pastor Pat Hennen officiating. Organist was Linda Groenendyk who accompanied Randy Koops and Stephanie Draayer as they sang "There Is A Redeemer." The congregational hymn was "When Peace Like a River." Serving as pallbearers were: Bob Miller, Donald Miller, Duane Miller, Bruce Miller, Scott Miller, and Ian Frasier. Honorary pallbearers were: Danny Kennedy, Stave Slate, Aaron Rust, Dale Frasier, Bryan Frasier, Jason Reichart, and Tom Bowler. Burial was in the South Oak Creek Cemetery.
