John Read m. 1) Mar. 14, 1710/11 at Windham, Mary Branch, by whom he had four children before her death at Windham on Oct. 8, 1718, three of the children dying in infancy. • vi. Ruth Palmer, b. March 27, 1698, d. in her youth at Winham, Conn. on Nov.16, 1711. • vii. Elihu Palmer, b. Jan. 19, 1699/700, d. July 22, 1764 at Windham, Conn., Æ 67; m. Sept. 30, 1725 at Windham, Abigail Robinson, dau. of Peteer Robinson, Sr. and Experience Lumbert, b. Aug. 5, 1701 at Tisbury, Mass. and d. at Windham on Dec. 29, 1765, Æ 65. Seven children of the family. Elizabeth (Kendrick) Palmer has a standing gravestone at Palmertown Cemetery in Windham, Conn. However, by 1930 evidence that husband Jonah Palmer once had a gravestone could not be found.
