Read More	Jonas Lichty Dead Death has once more claimed a prominent Waterlooan in the demise of Jonas Lichty, which occurred at 10 o'clock this morning at his residence on corner of Seventh and Wellington streets. The sad event was not unexpected by the family, as he had been very low during the past few days. Heart disease, with which he had been affected for a number of years, was the prime cause of death, though dropsy set in toward the last of his illness. Deceased was born in Somerset County, Penn., Sept. 25, 1830. On December 1, 1851, he was married at Myersdale to Mary Miller, From this union nine children were born, two of whom died in infancy. Those living are Harvey M. Lichty, banker at Winy (sp?) Colorado; William H. Lichty, a Dunkard minister of this city; Mrs. Elizabeth Saylor, of Morrill, Kansas; Mrs. Carrie Walker, of Glade, Penn.; Mrs. Amanda Speicher, of Dunkerton, Iowa; John A. Lichty, resident physician of Philadelphia Hospital, of Philadelphia, Penn.; and Milton J. Lichty, who is attending lectures in the medical department of the University of Pennsylvania. All of the children were present at the time of their father's death. Mr. Lichty was a consistent Christian gentleman. He early espoused the cause of Christ and entered the ministry of the Dunkard church when only a young man. For a long term of years he was elder of the Summit Mills church in Somerset Co. and he was universally loved by the church membership. His first wife died April 26, 1888, and on March 30, 1890, he was married to Mrs. Sallie Shrock, in this city. He then settled down here to enjoy his remaining days. Last summer he and his wife made a tour to Kansas and Colorado to visit his children for the last time. His physician pointed out the dangers to him that such a trip might induce, but his intense love for his children led him to chance the journey. While being blessed with an abundance of this world's goods, Mr. Lichty was liberal and charitably disposed and many a worthy person and project were aided by him. As a father he was indulgent, and as a friend he was true, sincere and helpful. The mourning widow and children have the sympathy of all in their dark sorrow. The funeral will be preahced by a minister form the St. Morris, Ill., college, at South Waterloo church, 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 23, 1893. The remains, in charge of undertaker Beck, will leave the home on Wellington street at 12 pm.
