Description	:	Jonas Landers was born June 30, 1840, Morgan Co. Indiana He is the son oF Jonathan & Tarma O. (Priest) Landers.He came to Iowa when he was about 15 years of age, traveling all the way with teams. He married Mary Jane Wilson who perceded him in death having passed away May 1, 1881. Six childern were born to this home, five of whom with a brother and a sister survied the deceased The oldest son died in 1882. The Childern whom are living are as follows; Mrs. Mary Johnson of Oklahoma,; Mrs Ada Story of Evererr, Washington; John of What Cheer, Roy of What Cheer;, Mrs Addie Hardy of Riverside, Iowa, . Mr Landers has made What Cheer his home for about fifteen years. He was not only an old pioneer but had a part in the great struggle of our nation in the sixties. He enlisted in the 9th regiment, Co. H. form this state and did good srevice, an honor which all are glad to respect. He remain active and in good health until this winter but did not remain in bed until a couple of days before his death. On the morning of April 6th . He leaves many friends, attached to him not only in a patriotic way but because of his patient and kind life. Funeral services were held at the Desciples Church Saturday at 10 a.m. in charge of Rev. L.G. Rohrbaugh assisted by Rev. W. R. Houghton. Interment was made in the Johnson Cemetery. Please note there is no name or stone found in the cemetery.
