Holdryde, who was born about 1790, Buckingham County, Virginia, and who died 31 December 1865 on Little Cabell Creek, in Ona, Cabell County, West Virginia. John D. Holroyd's gravestone uses the surname spelling of "Holdryde", and indicates he was 58 years, 11 months, and 14 days old, NOT 68 years, etc. His tombstone is smaller than the other three, and is hidden behind the tall stone for Mary A. There is a large family of Holroyd's in Yorkshire, England, and that family would have to be ruled out. John also had a son whom I am yet unable to locate: Lafayette Peter B. Holroyd, b. 8 March 1830 in Blue Sulphur, Cabell County, VA/WV, d. 28 July 1908 in Greentownship, Cincinnati, Ohio, and buried July 1908 in Cincinnati. On 28 November 1854 in Barboursville, Cabell County, VA/WV, he married Susan Elizabeth Mather, FindAGrave.com MEMORIAL ID 159863480. He had four children: 1. Anna Holroyd, b. 18 February 1856, Barboursville, Cabell County, VA/WV, died 28 September 1928 allegedly in "Blanco Basin, OR". She was buried 1 October 1928 in a "Hilltop Cemetery, Blanco Basin, OR", but there are only two Hilltop Cemeteries in Oregon, and no one named Ann or Anna, having a birthyear of 1856, OR a death year of 1928, is in either of them.
