On Dec. 31, 1868, he was united in marriage with Cathrine Schumacher, with whom he lived in matrimony more than 54 years, when she passed to her reward. To this union were born seven daughters, two of two of whom died in childhood. The living are: Mrs. Dan Bontrager, Mrs. Henry Keupf, Mrs. Abner Kinsinger, Katie Gingerich, and Mrs. Menno Kinsinger. He also leaves 6 brothers, 1 sister, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Just seven day previous to his death he was stricken with a paralytic stroke and a few days later pneumonia developed. Funeral services were held at West Union Church, Jan. 21, conducted by Bros. J. Y. Swartzendruber and D. D. Miller. Text, Eccl. 8:8.
