An online account gives his death date as 28 Aug 1884 in N. Kingstown, but no source is given. Jonathan was the son of George N. Arnold and Mercy Nichols of North Kingstown, Rhode Island. He m. (1) c. 1849 Hannah T. Whitford (an edit has been submitted to change her maiden name from Gardiner to Whitford), and m. (2) 1878 Annie G. Whitford. An online account gives his second marriage date as 24 Oct 1878. Jonathan appears on the 1850 census with his widowed grandfather, also named Jonathan N. Arnold. Also in the household is his wife, Hannah T. Arnold, and his aunt Mary and his brother John. In 1860 he and wife Hannah, both aged 37, were living without children in N. Kingstown, but in 1870 he, aged 47, appears to be widowed and living with an older woman named Maria Lawton, aged 59, who was keeping house; the relationship is not given. In 1875 he was still widowed, and living in N. Kingstown with his mother, Marcy W. Arnold, aged 77, and born in Warwick. By 1880 he had remarried, and was living with his young wife and baby son in N. Kingstown. He had died by 1885 when his widow, Ann G. Arnold, aged 27, was living as a boarder in a household of 22 persons in N. Kingstown, she having the occupation of weaver. His children, both with second wife Annie, were: * Jonathan N., b.
