Elder, 56 years old, Tulsa, Okla., retired business man, and former widely known resident of Hackett, Ark., died Friday at 8:50 a.m. at a Tulsa hospital after an illness of two years. A native of Hackett, where he was born Dec. 5, 1881, Mr. Elder moved to Spiro, Okla, in 1928, and to Tulsa in 1930, where he had lived since. Mr. Elder was engaged in the real estate business with W. H. Hull from 1930 until 1936, when he retired from active business because of ill health. While living at Hackett, he engaged in farming, and also was in the mercantile business and was a coal mine operator. For 23 years, he was a member of the Hackett school board. He had served as a justice of the peace. Mr. Elder was a member of the Amity lodge No. 267, Masons, at Hackett, becoming a member in 1911. He was a past state councilor of the Junior Order of the United American Mechanics of Arkansas. Mr. Elder had been a member of the Church of Christ since he was 19 years old. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Martha Elder; four sons, George, Claude, Reuben and Paul Elder, all of Tulsa; three daughters, Mrs. Arthur Boone, Hackett, Mrs. Charles Andrews and Miss Minnie Lee Elder of Tulsa; and 12 grandchildren. Funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m., at the Pleasant Hill cemetery, three miles east of Hackett, by Rev. Cull Evans, pastor of the Church of Christ of Hartford, Ark. (Jordon is my great grand-father.)
