She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was affiliated with the St Olaf Lutheran Church in West Union. On Sept 17, 1891, she was united in marriage to Halvor Blockhus. To this union were born ten children, six girls and two boys. They are: Anna, Mrs Paul Hammond, Oelwein; Clara, Mrs Weitenhagen; Agnes, Mrs Carl Stendel; Josie, Mrs Joe Schmelzer; Helen, Mrs Raymond Drewes; Gladys, Mrs Dale Monahan, Cedar Rapids; Elmer, Joe, Louis and Ervie all of West Union On Sept 17, 1941, relatives and friends gathered to help them celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. Beside her children, she is survived by her husband, 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a step-mother, Mrs Barbara Berg, Rushford, Minn; two half brothers, Nels Gilbert, Clermont, and Oscar Gilbert, and a half sister, Mrs Henry Wilson, Rushford, Minn.
