Transferred to Company D, 48th New York Infantry on January 30, 1864. Married Mary Stava on June 17, 1874 at Fremont, Nebr. by Rev. John Lonergan, Catholic priest. Mr. Simond was a soldier in the civil war. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery. Rev. Father Nemec conducted the funeral service. Mr. Simond is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. James Vidlock and Mrs. Chadek. ''''''''''''' The Brainard Clipper (Brainard, Nebr.), June 8, 1916, p. 5, col. 5 BRUNO DEPARTMENT Joe Simond died at his home one mile south of Abie last Saturday morning at the age of 79 years. Funeral services were held at Sts. Peter and Pauls' Catholic church at Abie, Monday at 10 o'clock a. m., conducted by the pastor Rev. Fr. Nemec. Remains were interred in the Catholic cemetery at that place. Deceased was a prosperous and well respected citizen and an early settler of that community where he resided for more than forty years. He was born in France and came to America when a young man. A large number from Bruno attended the funeral.
