| Description | : | Joseph is thought to have been born in Pennant Hills in 1830. At the age of 23, he was a farmer and married Rebecca Thompson at the Wesleyan Methodist Church at Field of Mars. His brother Francis Allsop was married to Rebecca's sister Rachel. Four months after Joseph's marriage, Joseph was drunk and riding home in his horse and cart. Somehow Joseph crossed paths with William Rogers, who worked for James Smith. William Rogers was accused and found guilty of beating Joseph to death.
