Read More	Joseph A Briss, Courtenay, died Thursday January 19, in a plane enroute from Hot Springs, Arkansas, to Phoenix, Arizona. Traveling by car with Mr and Mrs William Walker of Kensal, Mr and Mrs Ted Walker and Paul Krzoski, Courtenay, Mr and Mrs Briss left January 8 for a trip to Hot Springs, Arkansas and Arizona. Mr Briss suffered an asthma attack at Hot Springs on January 18 and was hospitalized there over night. Mr and Mrs Briss left for Phoenix by plane the following morning and Mr Briss death occurred while enroute. Mr Briss was born April 19, 1902 at Fingal, the son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Andrew Hiltman. He attended school at Fingal and Farmington, Minnesota, and resided for a time at Morristown, S.D. When he was a young man he came to the Kensal-Courtenay community and since 1923 has farmed in Corinne Township with his brother Perry Briss. On November 6, 1944, Mr Briss and Mrs Myra Barker Demary were married in Moorhead, Minnesota. Surviving Mr Briss are his wife; a step-daughter, Mrs Arvid McKenzie of Courtenay; two grandchildren; a brother, Perry Briss, Courtenay; a sister, Mrs Paul Flappier, McHenry; and the following half brothers and sisters; William Briss and Edward Briss, Kensal; Clarence and Robert Briss, Binford; Harry Briss, McHenry; Charles Briss, Kansas City, MO; Mrs Goodman Syverson (Helen), Grand Forks; Mrs Paul Coty (Alice) and Mrs Ray Sharbono (Alma), Carrington. The body accompanied by Mrs Briss, arrived in Jamestown by plane on Friday afternoon and was taken to the Eddy Funeral Chapel. Funeral services for Mr Briss were held Tuesday at the Courtenay Presbyterian Church with Rev. Aaron Koskamp, pastor, in charge. Howard M. Fosholdt played a program of music as friends assembled and left the church. He was accompanist for the church choir who sang "My Faith Looks Up To Thee," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Softly and Tenderly." Pallbearers were LeRoy Chidley, John Schwalk, Ernest Wraalstad, Byran Mitchell, George Hamilton, and Ben Hoggarth. Burial was made in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.
