Amiro, who died at his home Sunday afternoon, June 14th, at the age of 82 years. Joe Ben, as we liked to call him intimately, was a name everyone knew everywhere around. Amiro, who died at his home Sunday afternoon, June 14th, at the age of 82 years. Joe Ben, as we liked to call him intimately, was a name everyone knew everywhere around. By occupation, he was the stationmaster, a position he held until 1953. When, at the desired age, he had to give up this work he did not remain inactive. All the works of the parish interested him; God knows how much of his time he gave to the fire department, to the credit union, to the Red Cross, to name but a few, during the last years of his life. We all owe him a great debt of gratitude. Mr. Amiro become sick last winter. He was not able to resume his activities. The deceased was born in the neighboring village of East Pubnico, the son of Benjamin Amiro and Anne Françoise LeBlanc. He was the husband of Marie Vitaline Surette, who died on August 1, 1966. He leaves in mourning five daughters, Mrs. Marjorie McGrath of Bedford; Miss Alta Amiro of Ottawa; Mrs. Stewart Driscoll, Evelyn, of Oromocto, NB; Mrs. Kenneth Rowlings, Kathleen, of Dartmouth; Mrs. Granville Young, Jean, of Musquodoboit; three sons, Bernard at the paternal home; Clifford of Toronto and Douglas of Capreol, Ontario. Another son, Irvin, died in service of his country at the end of the last great war. He leaves also four sisters, Mrs. Ina Moulaison of Abram’s River; Mrs. Tessie Amiro of Lower East Pubnico; Mrs. Lena Banks of Halifax and Mrs. Marc d’Entremont, Ethel, of Middle East Pubnico. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 in St. Pierre Church, with mass celebrated by Rev. Father Ambroise Comeau, parish priest. Among those in the sanctuary was Father Burson, c.j.m. The pallbearers were Ray d’Entremont, Paul d’Eon, Harold d’Entremont, Stan Surette, Viateur d’Entremont and Aldric d’Entremont, all Knights of Columbus or members of our fire department.
