Joseph Blei, Sr., died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Ege, in David City, on Monday, August 9. He was 80 years 7 months and 8 days of age. Mr. Blei was born in Maryon, Germany, January 7, 1840. He was married in Germany to Augusta Schlubec. Five children were born to them, one son, Henry, dying in Germany. In an early day Mr. Blei and family came to the United States, locating on a farm near Brainard. This was their home for some time and was the place of Mrs. Blei's death in 1892. After his wife's passing Mr. Blei resided with his son, Joseph, until the past few years, when he had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Ege. Mr. Blei became a naturalized citizen of the United States September 24, 1906. Surviving Mr. Blei are three sons, William of Central City, Albert of Center township and Joseph, whose address is unknown, and the daughter, Mrs. Frank Ege, of David City. Funeral services were held in the Catholic church in Center township, of which church Mr. Blei was a member, on Wednesday morning, August 11, at 10 o'clock. Rev. Father Coleran conducted the services. The pallbearers were Theodore Aerts, Henry Bartholome, Nicholas Helgoth, Frank Littellier, John Sauser and Henry Van Bummell. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery in Center township. ***** People's Banner (David City, Nebr.), August 12, 1920, p. 7, col. 3 OBITUARY Joseph Blei was born January 7th, 1840, at Margon, Germany, and died on Monday, August 9th, 1920, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Ege. The deceased had reached the age 80 years, 7 months and 2 days. Mr. Blei was a resident of Butler county for the past thirty years having spent most of his life on a farm. Those mourning his death are one daughter, Mrs. Frank Ege, three sons, Wm. Blei, of Central City, Joe and Albert Blei, of Center township, and one brother, George Blei, near David City. The funeral services were held at the Center Catholic Church Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock conducted by Father Colleran, of Center. Interment was made in the church cemetery. The pall bearers were John Sauser, Theodore Aerts, Frank Littler, Henry Bartholemue, Mr. Van Bummel, and Nicklas Higoth.
