Description	:	Joseph Bohrer was born in Friedental, Crimea to Martin & Philippina (Theilaker) Bohrer. His father died February 25, 1856 of an unknown cause and his mother, who had been sickly for a long time, died just a month later on March, 27th. He was raised by Michael Muellers in Kerch, Crimea. From ages 18-23 he worked in Neudorf. On February 18, 1875 he married Rosina Schamber in Friedental. July 8, 1875 they landed in New York on the S.S. Klopstock with his brother, Johannes and family. His father died February 25, 1856 of an unknown cause and his mother, who had been sickly for a long time, died just a month later on March, 27th. He was raised by Michael Muellers in Kerch, Crimea. From ages 18-23 he worked in Neudorf. On February 18, 1875 he married Rosina Schamber in Friedental. July 8, 1875 they landed in New York on the S.S. Klopstock with his brother, Johannes and family. Johannes' wife was a sister to Rosina. He farmed in Hutchinson county South Dakota for 9 years, then lived at Freeman until 1898 when they moved to Big Bend, near Mannhaven. They moved to Hazen in 1917 and lived in the Western part of town. He was troubled with deafness and asthma. The flu, along with the asthma and his age, resulted in his death. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hazen, but due to the large crowd attending his funeral it was held at English Lutheran Church.
