The funeral of Joseph Booth took place at his residence last Saturday morning, Rev. James H. Hawk conducting the service. Mr. Booth was born February 18, 1829, in Harrison, but most of his life has been spent in Carroll County. In 1854 he married Agnes A. Workman. To this marriage were born eleven children, of which five girls and three boys still live. Mrs. Booth died in 1879, and in 1882 Mr. Booth was united in marriage with Mary McDonald, who survives him with four children. He was a man well known by all in the Community where he lived. They knew him only to trust and love him. There was no hidden deceptive hypocrisy lingering in his heart. In business a square man, honest and upright in all his doings, and seldom have we known a man of whom all his neighbors spoke in words of such high praise. He shrunk away from all deeds of dishonesty, wickedness and vice, and had no fellowship with bad men. For more than forty years he was member of the Presbyterian church. He lived the doctrines he professed, not only toward those with whom he met in the world outside, but he lived Christianity at home. As a father and husband, kind, wise, affectionate and loving, his influence and example will reach on into the years to come. "Tis ever wrong to say, a good man dies." He died quickly in the evening after coming in from the field. The heart that had beaten so often seemed to grow tired, and stopped by the wayside to rest. This was in the Carroll Free Press, Carrollton, Ohio, Wednesday, June 24, 1891. (Dellroy news) Joseph Booth, a respected citizen of this township, died quite unexpectedly last Thursday evening after only an hour's illness, aged bout 65 years. He had been working in the corn field that day, and feeling prostrate he went to the house and soon passed peacefully away. His remains were interred in the Scott grave yard Saturday forenoon.
